It's important to us that we keep people informed of our plans, and have therefore created this dedicated website where you can get further information about our proposals for a mixed use development at Little Thurrock, off Churchill Road, Grays, Essex.

As you may well be aware there have been a number of recent planning applications with regards to the land at Little Thurrock. We’d like to gain your feedback on some new development options, which include a reduction in housing, a new public green space and employment space. We want to explore with you how we can bring forward a better planning application for the benefit of the community.

The main features of our proposals are as follows:

  • We plan to build a reduced number of dwellings; up to 172 homes (including flats) compared to the 280 proposed in the last application. This will be built together with approximately 7,700 sqm of commercial space.

  • We will create a new public green space called Churchill Green in the eastern part of the site with new trees, ponds and waterways, to protect and improve biodiversity in the local area. This will provide a large public green space, designed in line with secure design guidance, to create a safe recreational space for the local community.

  • Our plans also include improvements to drainage through carefully designed sustainable drainage measures (swales, porous paving and rain gardens). Excess surface water from heavy rainfall will be diverted to new flood compensation storage (ditches and ponds) via flow control chambers. These measures are designed to ensure the site does not flood.
